Community Awareness
And Advocacy
OurTransLife’s (OTL) Community Awareness Events commemorate LGBTQ+ visibility days, provide safe and celebratory spaces for social connection, and promote youth-led advocacy through public art, storytelling, and dialogue. These events are open to the broader community and serve as powerful platforms for education and allyship.
OTL Community Awareness Events honor key LGBTQ+ visibility days by creating safe, affirming spaces for celebration, reflection, and advocacy. With support, we will host four inclusive events in Bridgeport, recognizing National Coming Out Day, International Nonbinary People’s Day, Transgender Day of Remembrance, and Transgender Day of Visibility, to uplift LGBTQ+ youth, strengthen allyship, and expand access to affirming community connections.
OTL serves as a public advocate and voice for the transgender and gender diverse community. This is a critical component of our mission as attitudes of acceptance are reversing during the current political movement of purposeful disenfranchisement of many marginalized people. OTL’s leadership are actively engaged with community conversations and various community congresses developing position statements and policy shaping.
