Affirming Conversations
Affirming Conversations advances OurTransLife’s (OTL) mission by fostering inclusive and authentic community dialogue around gender diversity. The program encourages participants to reflect on their own understanding of gender and to engage in respectful, informed conversations that promote a culture of authenticity and inclusivity in their schools, workplaces, and communities. Through tailored, interactive workshops, participants build capacity for gender-affirming practices and leave with practical tools and increased confidence to support trans and gender-diverse individuals in both personal and professional settings.
Aligned with OTL’s focus on serving LGBTQ+ youth, especially those who are Black, Latinx, and/or from low-income urban communities, the program equips educators, healthcare providers, and youth-serving professionals with equity-driven strategies that contribute to safer, more affirming environments. By centering lived experience and drawing on both clinical insight and original research, Affirming Conversations enhances mental health literacy, reduces stigma, and supports the integration of affirming care practices across systems. Additionally, the program promotes sustainable institutional change, as evidenced by testimonials, return bookings, and shifts in organizational culture toward inclusion and accountability.
